Lisa Porter

Lisa Porter may not live in our community, but we can all find comfort because she works here to protect our community and our way of life. Lisa commutes to work here five days a week and volunteers here with the Humane Society several times per month. Lisa is a Georgia State graduate and has been on our police force for 15 years.

We asked Lisa what piece of advice she would offer to a group of people and she said, “Focus.” She thinks it’s a good thing to focus in on the important things in life and not get sidetrack by the things that are only going to give you more stress than necessary. “Don’t get caught up in the details.”

We asked Lisa a few questions about her experiences and what she enjoys about her time in our community.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

A: “Italy, France, or Australia.”

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: “The Sixth Sense”

Q: What significant positive change have you noticed in our community?

A: “The rise of the film industry. We have worked with 5 different shoots in our area in the past year with several more on the horizon. Some reports say the Georgia is now the leader in film sets in the country.”

Q: Would you ever consider relocating to our area to end your commute?

A: “When someone builds a townhome complex near downtown, I will definitely consider it. Right now we live halfway between my job and my husbands job. Halfway certainly makes it easier on both of us.”

Q: When have you felt very satisfied in your life?

A: “When my family was complete.”

Q: If you could have lunch with anyone alive and a non-relative, who would it be?

A: “The Pope. I would love to hear some of his insight and wisdom.”

Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?

A: I love the downtown shops, restaurants, farmer’s markets, and events throughout the year.”
